1. Phoebe Bridgers — Lost Weekend

The one everyone's actually been waiting for. Her first solo record in six years, and it's a sprawling 16-track journey through her late father, an ex-fiance, and a new guy who shows up throughout as "Bobby." Boygenius bandmates Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus turn up on backing vocals for lead single "Lost Boys." Easily the best-reviewed record of the week and it's not close.

2. KiiiKiii — WhyKiiiKiii

Six tracks tracing one whole summer day, morning to late night, through house, hyperpop and trap-pop. The kind of K-pop mini-album that's engineered to be a whole vibe rather than just a single with filler around it. Fans are already calling it their most cohesive project to date.

3. Jungle — Sunshine

Label: Caiola Records / AWAL  |  Critics: 80

Fifth album from the neo-soul London duo, and it's pretty much exactly what the title promises — warm, groove-driven, built for the tail end of summer. "The Wave" leans into 60s/70s Brazilian influences, which is a nice left turn. More breezy bops than all-out anthems, but it's a genuinely lovely, rich-sounding record start to finish.

4. L'Rain — fata morgana

Label: Mexican Summer  |  Critics: 84  vs  Fans: 82

Taja Cheek's fourth record as L'Rain, and one of the best-reviewed releases of the week. A genre-blurring mix of dancehall, tape loops, slow jams and gospel that builds these layered, hazy atmospheres you sink into rather than just listen to. "soulless cycle" is the one people keep pointing to — a real gut-punch once it opens up.

5. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard — Alien Metal

Label: p(doom) Records  |  Critics: 50  vs  Fans: 68

Their 28th (!) album, and this time they've gone full rave — techno, hardcore, house and jungle built entirely off one marathon jam session on their modular synth rig. This is the most divisive record of the week by far; some critics think the reset didn't pay off, but if you've ever wanted King Gizzard to soundtrack a warehouse party, here you go.

6. Getdown Services — Massive Champion

Label: Breakfast Records  |  Critics: 79  vs  Fans: 76

Bristol duo's sophomore record, written in green rooms and on tour, and it's basically a British sitcom set to music — anarchic, funny, and way more emotionally sincere than their "joke band" reputation gives them credit for. Closer "600 Dance Lessons" goes full glitchy electronic and it's a genuine surprise. Great pickup if you like your rock records with a sense of humor.

7. Open Mike Eagle & Kenny Segal — DOOMED!

Label: Backwoodz Studioz  |  Critics: 76  vs  Fans: 80

Two decades of friendship, first full album together, and it's a breakup record dressed up as an absurdist black comedy. billy woods and Hemlock Ernst (Future Islands' Samuel T. Herring, rapping) both stop by. Genuinely funny and genuinely sad in the same breath, which is exactly the Open Mike Eagle sweet spot.

8. D$ Luqi — UOTOTOGOKA

Brazilian rapper D$ Luqi's latest, and by all accounts his rawest, most confessional project to date — heavy themes of depression, self-reflection and history running through the whole thing, sung and rapped almost entirely in Portuguese. Not an easy listen emotionally, but fans are calling it his best work yet.

9. okgutta — FACE OF THE 5

Fans: 83 (no critic score yet)

Underground hip-house mixtape, and it's a genre shift from what he's done before — the first half leans straightforward hip-house before things get considerably weirder in the back half. A cult favorite in the making for anyone who likes their rap left-of-center and a little unpolished.

10. MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS — Celebrate

Label: Flake Records / Like A Fool Records  |  Fans: 81 (no critic score yet)

The veteran Japanese shoegaze/post-hardcore trio's sixth album, and their first in a few years. Six tight tracks, mixed by Yusuke Shinma with mastering from Tsubasa Yamazaki (who's worked with Dir En Grey and Number Girl). Early word from fans is this might be their best record yet — high praise for a band with this much history.
